Meet Dr. Ijeoma Okwandu Bello
Board-Certified OB-GYN | Founder & Chief Medical Director of Essentia Women's Health & Aesthetics | Women's Health, Menopause & Intimate Wellness Expert
Dr. Ijeoma Okwandu Bello is a board-certified OB-GYN, women’s health educator, researcher, speaker, and founder of Essentia Women’s Health & Aesthetics in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Bello has cared for thousands of women through every stage of life, from adolescence and pregnancy to menopause and beyond. Her approach combines evidence-based medicine with compassionate, individualized care, earning the trust of women seeking both exceptional medical expertise and a physician who genuinely listens.
She created Essentia because she believed women deserved a better healthcare experience. One where they could take their time, ask honest questions, receive real answers, and never feel rushed, embarrassed, or dismissed.
For Dr. Bello, this work is deeply personal.
In many ways, Dr. Bello was caring for women long before she ever became a physician.
As the oldest of seven girls in a close Nigerian American family, there is nearly a 20-year age difference between her and her youngest sister. She often jokes that her mother was pregnant for most of her childhood.
Growing up, she watched her mother navigate pregnancy, childbirth, recovery, and the extraordinary responsibility of raising seven daughters. Those experiences left a lasting impression. She wanted to understand what her mother’s body was experiencing, and she saw firsthand how deeply a mother’s health influenced the entire family. When her mother was well, everyone around her benefited.
Being the oldest also meant becoming a trusted guide for her younger sisters. They came to her with questions about puberty, menstruation, body changes, relationships, pregnancy, and childbirth. She became someone they could speak to openly, honestly, and without judgment.
It started with a simple purpose: to understand her mother’s experience and to help her sisters enter womanhood with greater knowledge, confidence, and support.

Why Dr. Bello created Essentia
Throughout her career, Dr. Bello cared for women struggling with bladder leakage, vaginal dryness, painful intimacy, low sexual desire, hormonal symptoms, pelvic floor weakness, weight changes, and a loss of confidence.
Many had already asked for help. Some had been told their symptoms were simply “normal” after childbirth or just part of getting older.
Dr. Bello understood that while these concerns may be common, they are never insignificant. A condition does not have to be life-threatening to affect a woman’s confidence, marriage, quality of life, or sense of self.
She knew women deserved better. That conviction became Essentia.
Essentia brings together women’s healthcare, menopause and hormone therapy, intimate wellness, pelvic floor treatment, medical weight management, and advanced aesthetics under one roof. Instead of visiting multiple disconnected providers, women receive coordinated care that recognizes how closely these concerns are connected.
What makes Essentia different
Under Dr. Bello’s leadership, Essentia has grown into one of South Metro Atlanta’s trusted destinations for comprehensive women’s healthcare and advanced aesthetics, serving patients throughout Fayetteville, Peachtree City, and surrounding communities. Women choose Essentia because they receive:

Beyond the clinic, Essentia extends its mission through The BirthSquad Podcast, community partnerships, educational programs, and signature events such as The M Factor, helping women access trusted information long before they ever become patients.
Today, Essentia continues to grow largely through patient referrals and word of mouth, a reflection of the trust women place in Dr. Bello and her team. The practice has become more than a medical clinic. It is a place where women feel comfortable asking difficult questions, finding real solutions, and building lasting relationships with a physician who understands that women’s health is deeply personal.
The practice continues to grow because women are looking for this kind of healthcare. They want exceptional medical expertise, but they also want compassion. They want advanced treatment options without feeling pressured. Most importantly, they want a physician who listens.
My journey into women’s health began with my mother and my six younger sisters.
I wanted to understand what my mother experienced through pregnancy and childbirth. I also wanted my sisters to have someone they could trust as they moved through the different stages of womanhood.
Over the years, that purpose grew to include every woman who has ever felt uncomfortable asking a question, embarrassed by a symptom, or disappointed by a healthcare experience.
I created Essentia because women deserve the time and space to talk about what is truly affecting them. Nothing is too personal, too small, or too embarrassing to discuss.
When you come to Essentia, my goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and confident that together we will find the right path forward.
